SUBCLASS 418 (EDUCATIONAL) TEMPORARY RESIDENCE VISA

Thank you for your interest in a Subclass 418 (Educational) Temporary Residence visa to Australia.

Visa 418 is intended for persons who are offered temporary appointment to a position in Australia:

• at an Australian tertiary institution or research institution

• as an academic, librarian, technician, laboratory demonstrator;

• to undertake research; or

• as a teacher at an Australian school or technical college.

If applicable, you may include your spouse and dependent child/children under 18 in the same application. Only one fee is required.

The application must be lodged at our office together with the following documents:
1- Evidence that the nomination/sponsorship lodged on your behalf by your employer in Australia has been approved by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) in Australia (i.e. a copy of the letter of approval from DIAC);

2- Certified English translation (by Notary) of your marriage certificate;
 

3- Certified English translations (by Notary) of birth certificate/s for you and all accompanying family members;
 

4- One passport size photograph for each person included in the application;
 

5- Valid passport for each person included in the application;
 

6- If the intended period of stay in Australia is 12 months or longer, police certificate of no criminal record from the Israeli police for you and each person included in your application who is 16 years or over. Please apply to your nearest police station and take with you your ID card. The police will send the certificate directly to our office;
 

7- If the intended period of stay in Australia is 12 months or longer completed health checks with an Embassy doctor for you and for each person included in your application. In certain circumstances, health checks may be necessary for a period of stay shorter than 12 months.  Forms and instructions will be provided by our office after you lodge your application; 
 

8- Evidence of your educational and employment background which are relevant to your proposed employment in Australia (i.e. certified English translations of your relevant diplomas/degrees/certificate and employment references);
 

9- Processing fee, paid by a bank or postal cheque payable to the Australian Embassy, Tel Aviv. Personal cheques and credit cards are not acceptable. No cash please. Please do not send cash by mail. We cannot be responsible for any cash lost in the mail. Please refer to the DIAC's site for details.

If you have any dependent children, please note that you may have to pay for the full cost of their education in Australia. You are advised to check with the Education Authority in the state or territory where your dependants will be educated for further information.

The application form and supporting documents may be lodged via your travel agent or by registered mail. If you send your application and passport/s by registered mail, your passport/s will be delivered back to you door to door in most Israeli cities at your own cost (NIS60 paid cash at the time of delivery). If you live in a remote location, such as the West Bank, you would have to collect your passport/s from the nearest office of "Aviv Shigur".

Please do not finalise your affairs in this country or make final travel arrangements until you receive written advice from our office that your visas have been granted and you receive your passport back from our office.
